Lam Tsuen wishing trees

I guess many of you may heard of wishing tree in Hong Kong. This wishing tree normally been mentioned in many TVB drama. I'd took a visit to the actual wishing tree since after 2 yrs I am staying in Hong Kong.

The wishing tree located in Lum Tsuen, Dai po (林村,大埔) near the Tin Hau Temple in Fong Ma Po village. That is an old temple which was built since year 1768 or 1771.

There are 2 bayan trees in this village, and previously, all the tourists locals will write their wishes on the joss paper, tied with joss stick and orange, then threw them and hung up on these trees. They believe if the paper successfully hung up on the tree, their wishes will com true.

However, this event was stopped in year 2005 where there was an accident that the branches from the tree gave off and injured 2 people. After that, they setup few racks to hung the joss paper and preserve the tree from further damage.

Besides, the local village have also prepare a fake plastic wishing tree to satisfy the locals and tourists on the traditional wishes-throwing-action.

Believe me, throwing the wishes paper with orange and hung up on the tree is not an easy mission. If you failed to throw the paper for 3 times, that means your wish will not come true. You have to rewrite the wishes and throw again.

On year 2008, Lum Tsuen village had moved in a new bayan tree from Guang Zhou. This new tree located 10 meters away from the old wishing tree. However, locals and tourists still not allow to throw anything onto the tree and they still have to hung up their wishes on the racks that prepared by the local authority.

MTR Tai Wo Station and take a taxi or bus. Please refer to the link Lam Tsuen Wishing Tree and Tin Hau Temple on how to get there.

Cookies Quartet

Cambo Thai Restaurant

It was a long weekend last week, I went to Kowloon City (九龍城) craving for food. It is a place full of great foreign food especially Thai food. Eventually, I went to this restaurant name Cambo Thai Restaurant.

This is the restaurant specialty in Thai/Cambodia food. A lot of food lover have recommend this restaurant after they visited this restaurant.

Tom-yam soup is the most important signature Thai dish that we must not miss out. The good or bad of this dish may directly affect the reputation of the restaurant that serve mainly Thai food.

The type of Tom-yam soup that Thai Cambo Restaurant served is with the coconut milk. Even-though, I like the clear tom-yam soup more, but, I must admit that Thai Cambo have served the great Tom-yam soup. It came with lots of big prawn.

We'd ordered Thai style fried flat noodle. No surprise to me and taste normal.

Lastly, we'd ordered a stir fried vegetable with seafood. This is quite weird dish to me. This dish contain squid, mussel, shrimp, green bean, dry carrot, carrot and coconut meat. But, the combination is acceptable. This dish is better than the fried flat noodle that I'd ordered earlier.

1881 Heritage

Few weeks ago, I went to Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon for shopping. It was a windy day and we decided to go back Hong Kong Island by ferry.

Before end of Canton Road, I'd been attracted by a new visitor hot spot, 1881 Heritage. Luckily, I brought my camera along. I am so glad that I am able to capture some pictures of this newly renovated building.

1881 Heritage is a former Marine Police Headquarters Compound. This building was constructed since year 1884. This building used to be occupied by Marine Police, however, the unit has been moved to Sai Wan Ho currently.
This building was declared as monument by Hong Kong government since 1994. This is one of the four oldest building in Hong Kong.

This building was redeveloped and renovated since year 2003. It has been transformed into a artistic, cultural and shopping landmark and renamed as '1881 Heritage'.

Round House (Time Ball Tower) remain and locate in front of the Main Building. This tower used to provide time signals to the ships in the harbour. The Time Ball Tower historic mission was ended after the time ball was moved to Signal Hill.

Round House is still open for visiting. I was so glad that I have chance to view the interior of the Round House.

There is a huge map that built on the center of the 1881 Heritage that included Hong Kong.
Thanks to the classic design building, 1881 Heritage has become one of the famous photo taking spot also. If you have chance to visit Hong Kong, this is a nice place to be included in your list.

Capitol Satay

Another food blog today. This time, I want to introduce satay celup. But before I start, I believe everybody would know which restaurant I am going to mention. Yes, Capitol Satay in Melaka, the restaurant that running by number 3rd generation now and always in long queue.

Luckily, the day we visited Melaka was weekday, and we reached the restaurant about 6pm. It just took us about 15 minutes to get our table.

Each of us served with a plate of cucumber after we had sat down.

And we start craving for food before our sauce is served. There are a lot of variety to choose, vegetable, seafood, all kind of meat and etc.

This is just the first round of our food. The foods come in different type of price, normally it cost RM0.80 each stick. Some of the foods come in small plate instead of stick. The cost of each plate according to the color. The price range are from RM1.20 to Rm8.00 depending on the serving.

Our sauce arrived.

Before the sauce is boiled, the restaurant tauke add in more spices and peanut into the sauce to add up the flavor.

We start putting our food into the pot.

After we finished our dinner, the queue get longer. This is always a busiest satay celup restaurant I ever see.

Woo Pin Fish Head Noodle

During my last visit to my hometown, I had introduced this fish head noodle that serve in Taman Desa to my Hong Kong friends.
This place usually very busy during weekend. However, we went there during weekday and there were lots of place to seat. :)
This is a drink that never been found in HK as well, lime juice with sour plum

My friends had tried 3 colours coffee

This is the fish head noodle that we had wait for more than 10 minutes. Fish soup came with milk in it. For the ingredient, you may choose fried fish, fish or fish ball and also the type of noodle you like. You may also choose not to add milk into the soup if you don't like the taste of milk. To me, I like the original taste, fried fish + milky sweet fish soup.

For the type of noodle, I'd chose mee hoon (thin rish noodle). It was indeed a satisfy breakfast for the day. ;)

I have not been to Madam Kwan's since I Left my previous company that located in KLCC which was about 4 yrs ago.

I visited Madam Kwan's again on my last vacation in Malaysia. This time, I went there with my Hong Kong friends.

Some of you may ask, "why chose Madam Kwan's? There are a lot of nice local food restaurant out there." Well, I chose Madam Kwan's coz I was happened to stuck in KLCC due to heavy rain. To fill up our empty stomach with 1st meal in Malaysia after touched down, I introduced Madam Kwan's which serve local cuisine to my friends.

This is not KLCC Madam Kwan's restaurant. I took this photo at Mid Valley.

Nasi Lemak. This is the best dish among all the dishes we'd ordered. I like the Sambal they served.

Curry Laksa. Not bad.

Nasi Bojari. This is a huge dish. Fragrance rice comes with fried chicken, beef rendang, half boiled egg and asam prawns.

Char Kuay Teow. This is better if add some sambal with it.

Otak-otak, Malaysia style fish cake. I don't like it.

Sambal Petai with prawns. This is a dish that I must intro to my friends from HK. Surprisingly, they quite like it.

DUO 陳奕迅 Eason 2010 Concert

I went to watch Eason's concert at Hong Kong Coliseum (紅館 ) yesterday night. That was DUO concerts day number 9th.

Fortunately, my seat was raw number 1. Very near to the stage and I may have chance to shake Eason's hand. =)
The warning board just located in front of my seat. To warn the fans, don't climb over handrail.

The concert start at 8.45pm sharp. Whole coliseum was lighten with the green laser lights that gaven away by organiser.
And Eason appeared from the center stage with his first song.

Eason came to the stage that near me after few songs. However, he didn't came nearer. I guess he was trying to avoid unnecessarily chaos.

This is the first time Eason stood less than 2 meter away than me. =P

I bought 2 front raw ticket that came with 2 cushions with Eason voice.

That was a very enjoyable concert. Unfortunately, Eason hoarse his voice.
